To inspire, empower and support the needs of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
About Joyful Hearts
A private 501(c)3, Joyful Hearts, LLC is a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring, empowering and supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Joyful Hearts is a vibrant organization growing from JOYPROM - a single annual event, to events throughout the calendar year. Joyful Hearts events engage participants of all ages and backgrounds.
In many areas throughout North Carolina, there is a lack of opportunities to engage people with IDD. Joyful Hearts five year plan is to empower IDD individuals of all ages, throughout the state via social events.
The Joyful Hearts short-term plan is to operate in several locations throughout North Carolina, inspiring thousands with IDD. Through a growing organization of trained Volunteer leaders, we intend to stage social events and activities throughout the State. As a result of these ambitious efforts, Joyful Hearts hopes to provide people with IDD a well-rounded life experience.
The State of North Carolina ranks 44th out of 50 States in a 2012 Medicaid ranking. Joyful Hearts has active representation in front of the State Legislature to give voice to the State's IDD population. Our lobby goals include increasing Medicaid disbursements to IDD eligible participants, education, and shaping future IDD Medicaid legislation.
Our efforts to empower an extraordinary life go beyond events and representation. Long-term we hope to develop skills education, job-creation, and community living experiences, to offer a well-rounded self-sustaining life experience.
